What is the composition of CorrectDeck?
CorrectDeck is crafted from recovered hardwood fiber and rugged, UV-stabilized polypropylene. CorrectDeck combines a unique polypropylene-based formula with a highly advanced manufacturing process to yield a superior material. CorrectDeck was the first composite decking manufacturer to use polypropylene instead of polyethylene. Polypropylene (think of Tupperware® or red gas cans) makes it stronger, stiffer, and lighter than other composites, so it can span longer distances and withstand higher temperatures with less expansion and contraction.

How much does CorrectDeck cost?
CorrectDeck will add 15-20% to the cost of the typical deck project, but will add as much as 50% overall value, and will contribute to greater resale.

Will CorrectDeck rot, splinter, or decay like real wood?
CorrectDeck Decking, when properly installed and maintained is warranted to the original consumer (Purchaser)* for as long as you own your home, against rot, structural decay, splitting, checking, splintering, or termite damage under normal conditions of decking use and exposure. *The Residential Limited Lifetime Warranty may be transferred one time form the original consumer to the subsequent purchaser. Back to top ^
Is CorrectDeck slippery when wet?
CorrectDeck boards have a deep wood grain combined with fine wood particles that provide traction when wet, which makes the product safe for children. CorrectDeck products are ADA compliant for ramps, etc.

How does temperature affect CorrectDeck?
CorrectDeck is manufactured in Maine where harsh freezing winters have put it to the test. As far as the heat, CorrectDeck can get up to 210 F without any distortion or sagging between joists. The deep wood grain and thin profile of CorrectDeck combined with IR-reflective pigments help to keep the product cool underfoot even on those hot summer days.

Can I paint, stain, or water seal CorrectDeck?
Once CorrectDeck has weathered for at least one season, a good quality solid oil or latex decking stain can be applied; two coats are suggested as per manufacturers instructions. Do not attempt this process on new material as results will not be acceptable.

What is the best snow removal procedure with CorrectDeck?
Any type of salt or ice melt can be applied to CorrectDeck as any wood surface along with the use of a plastic tip shovel shovel. Please do not chip at any thin ice or directly on CorrectDeck as it may damage the surface of the material. See CorrectDeck Cleaning & Care Guide

What is the proper way to handle and store CorrectDeck?
CorrectDeck should be stored on wood supports placed approximately every three feet and under a dry lumber cover or tarp. Rainwater that wouldn’t stain a deck will stain stacked lumber, so remember to keep it dry.

Will the color on every CorrectDeck board be the same as the material produced at a different time?
No, as with lumber, slight variations in color may exist from board to board. Prior to cutting and installing deck boards, layout boards on deck to achieve a desired appearance. If in the unlikely situation that a board may not match the other boards on your deck to your satisfaction, please return the board to the retailer for exchange prior to installation.

Why do my Coastal Grey boards have a brown cast?
Coastal Grey boards may have a brown cast due to an artifact of the brownish color of the recovered wood fibers used to make the product. This exposed wood fiber weathers to a gray color quickly and the brown or reddish cast will fade away.

Does CorrectDeck offer a dock plank?
CorrectDock is great for marina, dock, or boardwalk applications with a deeply embossed wood grain that makes it slip resistant even when wet.
